When a patient, suffering from a difficult and chronic skin disease or a frustrating cosmetic problem, comes to see a dermatologist, he /she needs to be given sufficient time.

By scheduling a limited number of consultations, I endeavour to give each patient adequate opportunity to describe his condition and express his / her concerns. We then discuss the implications of the different, available treatment options.

I finally recommend a treatment plan that I believe will give the best results.

Additionally, to treat the skin, we have, at Nova Laser Clinic, painstakingly acquired the best machines and medicaments from across the globe. This means that I can provide my patients the highest standard of care that they naturally expect and deserve.

Education

Dr. Arun K. Prasad studied at St. Michael’s High School, Patna, and St. Xavier’s and Presidency Colleges, Calcutta (now known as Kolkata). He then did his MBBS from Medical College Hospital, Calcutta and his dermatology training at SSKM Hospital in the same city, under the guidance of Professor Salil K. Panja. After obtaining his post-graduate diploma in dermatology from Calcutta University, he received further training in Freiburg, Germany.

Memberships

Dr. Prasad is an active member of the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists, the Association of Cutaneous Surgeons of India and the American Medical Society of Vienna, Austria.

Despite his busy schedule, Dr. Prasad takes out time to help many underprivileged patients through his association with the M. P. Birla Foundation, the Lakshminarayan Trust and World Bank assisted projects.

Personal

Dr. Prasad lives in Ballygunge Place with his wife Damayanti, a doctor with the Mission of Mercy Hospital, Calcutta and daughters Vishaka and Upalika. His hobbies include travelling, photography and an occasional game of tennis.

Experience and Interests

Dr. Prasad has a wealth of experience in the use of oral isotretinoin for acne; acitretin, cyclosporin A, methotrexate and ultraviolet light for psoriasis; narrowband UVB for vitiligo; and lasers and pulsed light for hair removal and skin rejuvenation. He also performs a wide range of cosmetic and general dermatosurgical procedures.
